The customs we inherit, the objects that carry them.
In Indian homes, copper was never decoration. It held the morning's water, the festival's offerings, the family's meals. It was polished before weddings and handed down after them.
Rivaj began with a simple wish: to bring that quiet, lasting beauty back into everyday life — without compromise on the metal, the craft or the finish. We partner with skilled metalsmithing workshops in India's brass and copper heartland, selecting each design for its form, weight and workmanship.
The result is a collection that feels both familiar and new: a hammered jug your grandmother would recognise, finished with the polish of a modern atelier.

Somewhere along the way, copper and brass became things we inherited but no longer bought. They were hard to find, hard to trust and rarely presented the way a meaningful gift should be. Rivaj was started to change that.
A home in every corner of India where copper, brass and kansa are used every day and given with pride, as naturally as they were by our grandparents.
Curate the finest handcrafted metalware, price it honestly, and make it effortless to buy online, for yourself, for a wedding, a festival or a thousand clients.
Work closely with skilled Indian artisans and workshops, so the craft of hammering, embossing and kalai keeps a living market and a future.
Bring a new generation back to tamra jal and traditional dining, with clear care guidance, everyday rituals and pieces made to last a lifetime.
Every Rivaj piece passes through many skilled hands.
Copper and brass sheets are cut, spun and drawn into form, and some, like our jointless bottles, from a single sheet.
Thousands of hand-struck blows create the texture that catches light — and strengthens the metal.
Repoussé, carving, enamel inlay and meena painting turn vessels into works of art.
Cookware is lined with tin (kalai); every piece is polished, inspected and carefully packed.

Warm, living metal, long associated with storing drinking water in Ayurvedic practice.

Golden and enduring — the metal of festive kitchens, puja rooms and royal tables.

The bell-metal of tradition, prized for dining and for its resonant ring.

“We don't make things for a season. We choose things for a lifetime — and the one after.”The Rivaj philosophy
Rivaj is a new-age Indian startup founded by siblings Madhav and Kanishka, on a simple mission: make handcrafted copper, brass and kansa beautiful, easy to buy and a joy to gift, for a generation that still values tradition.

Madhav started Rivaj with his sister Kanishka, and with a question: why does gifting copper still feel so old-fashioned to buy, when the pieces themselves are so timeless?
He set out to build a modern brand around India's oldest metals: carefully curated designs, honest pricing, secure online ordering and gift-ready delivery across India. He leads Rivaj's vision, product curation, sourcing and customer experience, and personally reviews every collection before it reaches the website.
“A copper piece made well is never just a utensil. It is a story you keep using. Rivaj exists to make that story easy to give.”Madhav Bass, Founder & CEO

Kanishka co-built Rivaj with her brother Madhav, and shapes how Rivaj looks, feels and speaks, from the copper-and-palace aesthetic of the brand to every campaign, photograph and post.
She leads the brand's creative direction, festive and wedding gifting campaigns, social media and digital marketing, making sure tradition is presented with a fresh, contemporary eye. Her goal is simple: every Rivaj gift should look as special online as it feels in your hands. Together, the brother-sister duo run Rivaj the way they would treat family: personally, carefully and honestly.
“Tradition doesn't need to look dated. It needs to be told beautifully.”Kanishka Sharma
